Friday Top 5 - Favorite Mutants

So, watching the newest installment of the X-Men movies, X-Men: First Class, resulted in me watching all the other X-Men films over the course of the past two weeks. I really liked the trilogy and have enjoyed the latest two movies even more. That said, this week's Top 5 is my Top 3 Favorite X-Men mutants. Yes, Top 3. After I got past 3, I couldn't really think of any that were totally, completely awesome. Charles Xavier? Sorry, being in a wheel chair is not a good trade-off for being telepathic. Jean Gray? She was so powerful, she basically killed herself. No thanks. Storm? I don't think so. If I'm in an emergency and need some super powers fast, I don't want to wait around for a weather system to blow through. And for you comic book nerds (I don't think I've ever read a comic book before), I'm going off the movies, so don't get all bent out of shape if I skip someone who wasn't in the movies.

They Never Even Gave Him a Chance

Smile while you can, Brett.
Brett Pill started off his Major League baseball career with a bang, homering in his first at-bat on Tuesday and then homering again on Wednesday. The big first baseman's career appeared to be off to a bright start until ESPN took it upon themselves to curse him. Their recap of today's Giants-Padres game included this little gem:
"Pill joined John Bowker as the only two players in franchise history to homer in their first two major league games."

Confessions of a Wannabe Libertarian

Thomas Jefferson - An original libertarian
Yes, I admit it: I desperately want to be a libertarian. Not in the same way that I want to be a professional basketball player. I have neither the requisite athleticism nor the dedication to be a professional athlete of any sort. A libertarian, though, I could definitely be.

Sometimes I even dress up like a libertarian and walk around and talk to random strangers like a libertarian. I revel in the uncomfortable, squirmy demeanor they take on when they realize that it's impossible to successfully argue against me. I'll calmly take out my pocket-size constitution, point out the folly of their belief and then laugh hysterically as they deal with a world that has just been turned upside down. Yes, I desperately want to be a libertarian.

The Link Tank: What I'm Reading

The Link Tank is a fun new feature I'm adding to TDT (yes, Things Doug Thinks will now be referred to as TDT) that will feature every Monday. Basically, it's a list of what I've been reading with a little commentary mixed in. It'll mainly be made up of interesting or important (or both!) stories that don't make the news or stories that make the news that deserve a little commentary. Anyways, keep up with what I've been reading, because I may reference it later in the week. That said, here's the latest from the Link Tank:

Friday Top 5 - Favorite Foods

I've got some interesting Top 5 ideas coming up, but the only way I can follow up a Top 5 Favorite Beers is with a Top 5 Favorite Foods. Food is awesome. I love food like that weird guy from work who's always in the bathroom at the same time as you loves asking what you're doing this weekend. Anyways, this is an "if you died tomorrow, what would you want for your last meal" scenario.

Why Progressives Rule!

Like I said yesterday, I'm not posting anything new today - from me. Today on Things Doug Thinks, we have our very first guest writer! And by guest writer, I mean I copied and pasted an article I found online. From the brilliant mind of Greg Gutfeld, circa 2007. You can find the original here. Enjoy.
